Gone to soon… I Will Always Love You

Like most people I was deeply last night to learn of Whitney Houston’s death.   Her powerful voice has been an inspiration in my love of music.  I can remember being a young girl, plyaing her music loudly in my room as I sang along.   In a time when African-Americans weren’t commonly mainstream, she had crossed over.  I can still remember her on the cover of Seventeen magazine, the first Aftrican-American to ever grace the cover of Seventeen Magazine.  While her voice was like a sweet angel, her accomplishments as an African-American made for inspiration and hope for other young black girls, like myself… How I hoped to someday be as beautiful as Whitney and for people to look at me not by the colour of my skin but rather for the women I’ve become.  Whitney in her finest hour showed me this was possible.  And for that I will always love you, Whitney…. Gone to Soon, RIP Whitney

Today’s Sunday’s lyrics is poignantly “I will Always Love You.”

If I should stay,
I would only be in your way.
So I’ll go, but I know
I’ll think of you every step of the way.

And I will always love you.
I will always love you.
You, my darling you. Hmm.

Bittersweet memories
that is all I’m taking with me.
So, goodbye. Please, don’t cry.
We both know I’m not what you, you need.

And I will always love you.
 I will always love you.

I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you’ve dreamed of.
And I wish to you, joy and happiness.
But above all this, I wish you love.

And I will always love you.
I will always love you.
I will always love you.
 I will always love you.
I will always love you.
I, I will always love you.

You, darling, I love you.
Ooh, I’ll always, I’ll always love you.

….And one of my favourite Whitney Houst on songs… which always brings back childhood memories:
